In line with the clean-up project of DENR with the Manila Bay, the Sewage Treatment Plant is one of their major solutions to provide clean waters for the city.
Besides the purpose of filtering the waters of Manila Bay, the S.T.P. also helps filter air pollution and mitigate heat island effect through its vertical garden, a design partnered with functionality that also contributes with its environment.
The Seal of Manila was our main design inspiration with the colors of our national flag projected onto the structure, wave patterns that symbolizes Manila Bay, and the vertical garden patterned after the pre-Hispanic shield. Overall, the design of the S.T.P. revolves around the history and culture of our beloved country, ready to serve our nation through its filtration.
